A reminder that London is one of the most exciting cities in the world – and that there’s still no better place than East to be a part of it.

At ground level of the Mondrian, Shoreditch’s streets, on the eastern edge of the City, are instantly recognisable. However, from its rooftop pool – a rarity in London – things look completely different. Glassy skyscrapers rise to the west, red-brick houses unfold to the east. You don’t get more Shoreditch than this.

And the area’s cool, creative, and contemporary energy pulses throughout. Colourful artwork hand-painted by Fred Coppin decorates the exposed concrete walls, plenty of greenery gives the appearance of an urban oasis, and an impressive copper bar is just begging to be propped up. Come 6pm on Friday, the area’s cultural connoisseurs do just that.
